Indian Academicians In US Universities To Mentor Indian Students, Researchers Under 'MARG' Series

The Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission, and the Indian Embassy in collaboration have introduced the ‘MARG’ series – Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance. The mentoring project will allow Indian and Indian-origin faculty at world-renowned universities in the US to mentor or guide students and researchers studying in Indian universities especially those in smaller cities and towns.

The objective of the MARG series is to give exposure to Indian students and researchers about the latest developments in the field of study and provide knowledge, career advice, skills, and research opportunities from experts in the US.

According to the Indian Embassy, Indian-origin professors from prestigious US universities such as Stanford, Purdue, University of Maryland, and George Mason University will participate in the initial rounds of the series.

The Deputy Chief of Mission Sripriya Ranganathan emphasized the growing academic, research, skilling, and industrial ecosystem of India. While focusing on critical and emerging technologies including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance computing, quantum science and technology, clean energy, advanced materials and bioengeering, Ms Ranganathan stated that these sectors drive leadership.

According to her, this intitive will help both countries strengthen the academci, research and technology partnership between India and the US. The vice chancellors and directors of participating universities also belief that the sessions under MARG series will benefit students and faculty involved in teaching, skill development and research in critical and emerging technology areas.
