Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Indian educator, artist has won a prestigious US$1 million global teaching prize at the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai. Also a social worker, Nagi secured the title for her contributions in transforming education in India’s slums through art-led learning and community engagement programs.

The educator received the Global Teacher Prize at the World Governments Summit 2026 in held in Dubai, which was presented by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence alongside Sunny Varkey, founder of GEMS Education.

The educator originally hails from Jammu and Kashmir and she founded the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, creating over 800 learning centers with interactive murals that teach literacy, math, science, hygiene, history, and values in more than 100 Indian slums and villages.

Nagi’s works have brought over one million children into formal education, sparking pride across India, with Maharashtra’s Chief Minister calling the initiative an honour for the nation. Nagi reportedly plans to invest the $1 million in a free vocational training institute for underserved youth.
