Karnataka: Teacher Sexually Exploits Minor Students With Communication Disorders
Chamarajanagar, Karnataka: A teacher at a speech and hearing school in Kollegal, Chamarajanagar district, in Karnataka has allegedly sexually harrassed and abused minor children with communication disorders.
The victims have been suffering horrific ordeals for over 13 years. The accused teacher allegedly took advantage of the children’s disability as they were unable to speak up about the sexual assault they endured, The New Indian Express reported.

After a person from the school informed Rathna Kumar Satyavasi, he filed a complaint with Chamarajanagar SP Dr BT Kavitha. The complainants also submitted video statements of sexually assaulted students given in sign language about the sexual abuse.
Based on the complaint, the police visited the school and conducted an investigation, and questioned the students. Though they did not find any witnesses or evidence initially, an internal inquiry by the institution disclosed that a minor girl, who was previously studying at the school, had been sexually assaulted.

After they got the evidence, the police registered a Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) case against the alleged perpetrators on October 30. The victim, who gave the statement also informed that several other girls she knew, were also subjected to sexual assaults.
The victim, who is now 29, said she was harassed by the student when she was 16 years of age. Police are now investigating to verify the allegations.
