International Faculty Exchange Program At Farook College Strengthens Indo–Ethiopian Academic Ties

Kozhikode, Kerala: The Department of Economics at Farook College (Autonomous), Kozhikode, hosted an international academic programme under the RUSA Faculty Exchange initiative, reinforcing the institution’s global collaboration efforts. The event sought to foster cross-cultural understanding and promote joint research between India and Ethiopia.
As part of the exchange, Dr. Tefera Berihun Taw, Associate Professor of Economics at Ethiopia Civil Service University and RUSA Foreign Visiting Professor, visited Farook College. He interacted with Principal Dr. Ayisha Swapna K.A., and faculty members including Prof. Muhammed Rasheed, Prof. Shajitha, Lt. Dr. Abdul Jabbar A.T., Dr. Mohammed Kasim C., Prof. Shihabudheen M.T., Dr. Sahadudheen, and Dr. Yazir P., along with IQAC members, research scholars, and students. Their conversations focused on economic growth strategies, sustainable development, governance, and the role of education in promoting social progress.

Dr. Taw underscored how academic partnerships can strengthen bilateral relations and enhance mutual learning between India and Ethiopia. The programme also celebrated shared cultural values such as hospitality, inclusivity, and a commitment to education.

In conjunction with the visit, the department organized an International Workshop on “Impact Evaluation Methods Using Stata,” offering practical training in empirical research to postgraduate students and scholars. A seminar on “Environment, Development, and Society” followed, featuring discussions on global sustainability and socio-economic challenges.

The Department of Economics extended its appreciation to RUSA and the college administration for supporting the endeavour, marking yet another milestone in Farook College’s pursuit of academic excellence and international engagement.
