Calicut, Kerala: A delegation of students from Farooq College, Kozhikode, recently visited Al Sharqiya University in the Sultanate of Oman as part of a student exchange programme. The initiative forms part of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), a higher education scheme of the Government of India.

The exchange was jointly organised by the Department of Arabic at Farooq College and the Department of Arabic at Al Sharqiya University. The visiting team comprised eleven postgraduate students, accompanied by Dr Yunus Saleem, Head of the Department of Arabic, and Dr K.P. Abbas, Programme Coordinator.

The programme aimed to provide students with cultural and academic exposure to Arabic language and literature, fostering greater understanding of the Arab world’s cultural and intellectual traditions. During the visit, participants attended academic workshops and interactive sessions with eminent scholars on topics such as Arabic literature, literary criticism, Omani history, and cultural heritage.

In addition to academic engagements, the delegation toured several prominent heritage sites, including Nizwa, Jebel Akhdar, the Oman Across Ages Museum, and the National Museum in Muscat.

The exchange programme is part of a broader effort to promote international collaboration in Arabic studies and enhance research excellence through cross-cultural academic experiences.
