Farook College Naval NCC Achieves New Milestones

Calicut, January 25: The Naval NCC unit of Farook College has soared to new heights, earning accolades and opportunities that set a benchmark for excellence. With consistent achievements every academic year, the unit continues to uphold its legacy of excellence.

Sayyid Muhammad Shaheen N.K., Cadet Captain of the Naval NCC unit and a sixth-semester B.Sc. Mathematics student, has been selected for the prestigious Overseas Deployment Camp. Representing the Nine Kerala Naval Unit, Shaheen will join 12 cadets from across India in a camp spanning Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand from 23rd January to 16th March 2025. The cadets will visit naval bases and participate in official receptions, highlighting India’s naval ties. Shaheen’s accomplishments also include a bronze medal in the Best Cadet category at the RDC 2024 camp, achieved after rigorous multi-stage training.

Further bolstering Farook College’s reputation, two second-year undergraduate students, N.C.1 Muhammad Shameel and N.C.1 Gauri Krishna, have qualified for the Republic Day Parade at Delhi Cantt. Representing the Kerala-Lakshadweep Directorate, Shameel excelled in the Senior Division Navy category, while Gauri triumphed in the Senior Wing Navy category. Both cadets secured gold medals at the IGC RDC camp in Calicut, earning their spots after excelling in nine selection camps.

Additionally, N.C.1 Tripthi T., a fourth-semester Botany student, will represent the Kerala-Lakshadweep Directorate in the Special Sailing Expedition Flagging-In Ceremony led by the Prime Minister on 27th January. Tripthi was selected after excelling in camps held in Thiruvananthapuram and a Special Sailing Camp in West Bengal.

A merit event at Farook College celebrated these achievements, with Lt. Commander Mathew P. Mathew, Principal Dr. Aysha Swapna, and Associate Naval Officer Lt. Dr. Abdul Jabbar A.T. in attendance. These accomplishments underline the commitment and calibre of the Naval NCC unit at Farook College.
