India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday with an enthralling exhibition of military prowess and rich cultural heritage at ‘Kartavya Path’ in Delhi. This day marks a momentous milestone for the country, celebrating the day the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950.

French President, Emanuel Macron will grace the Republic Day event, which will commence at 10:30 am, symbolizing the strong bond India shares with France. The ceremony will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial. The parade will commence from Vijay Chowk and proceed along Kartavya Path, reports Hindustan Times.

The theme of the occasion is Viksat Bharat (Developed India) and Bharat- Loktantra ki Matruka (India- Mother of Democracy).

On Thursday evening, President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in the grand celebration of its journey of ‘Amrit Kaal’ that began the post the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration to commemorate 75 years of the country’s independence.

Both the presidents will be escorted by the President”s Bodyguard (Rashtrapati Ke Angrakshak). The President”s bodyguard is the senior-most regiment of the Indian Army.

This Republic Day is special for the elite regiment as the ‘Angrakshak’ (bodyguard) has completed 250 years of service since its raising in 1773. Making this celebration different from others, the Indian President and her French counterpart will arrive in ‘traditional buggy’, the practice which is making a comeback after a gap of 40 years, according to the statement of the defense ministry.

The Republic Day parade will begin with President Murmu taking the salute. The parade will be women-centric, heralded by 100 women artists with Indian musical instruments. In this year”s parade, the centre of attraction would be the indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and the recently inducted C-295 transport aircraft as they will make their inaugural flypast. A 95-member French delegation will also march alongside the Indian soldiers on the Kartvya Path as part of the celebrations.

The Delhi police have issued travel advisories for the Republic Day celebration, including road closures and restrictions on Kartavya Path and other major roads.
More than 70,000 personnel have been deployed across the national capital for strict security, while 14,000 have been deployed at and around Kartvya Path.
