Madhya Pradesh To Announce Twice-A-Year Board Exams
Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) is set to announce a significant change in its examination system by conducting board exams twice annually, following the decision taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The state government has proposed the necessary amendments to the MP Board of Secondary Education Regulations, 1965, to facilitate this change. The draft of the gazette notification is open for objections and suggestions from the public for 15 days from the date of their publication in the MP Gazette. The suggestions will be reviewed by the board before finalizing the amendments.

“The draft of gazette notification has been released. Objections have been called upon it in the next 15 days, following which we will implement the amendments”, MPBSC Secretary Dr KD Tripathi said.
According to the proposed changes, the board will conduct two examinations for High Schools and Higher Secondary students each year – one as the main exam in February-March and the second examination in July-August.
The second exam will allow students to improve their scores in one or more subjects. Similar to the CBSE, the students appearing for the second examination will be granted provisional admission to the next higher class before the result is declared. If a student clear the exam, their attendance in the higher class will be counted accordingly.
Also, students who does not clear the first exam will be allowed to sit for the second examination. Those who have cleared first exam may also opt to sit for the second exam to improve their marks.

Students must need to submit an application form along with the prescribed fee to appear in the second examination, but changes in subjects opted for in the first examination will not be allowed.
As per the amendments, students will also have an option to apply for re-totalling of marks.
Notably, CBSE has announced its plan to implement the twice a year board exam process from 2026.
