The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Stephen Marandi has secured victory in the Maheshpur constituency with a big margin of votes share. He successfully secured 61125 more votes than the BJP runner-up candidate Navneet Anthony Hembrom. JMM emerged as the top party after securing 34 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly elections 2024 followed by BJP at 21, INC at 16, RJD at 4, and CPI (ML)(L) at 2 seats.
A total of 17 candidates contested the Maheshpur Assembly seat in 2024 on November 20, 2024. A total of 2,37,764 people were registered as voters for the 2024 assembly elections. Out of the total 1,20,243 were female, 1,17,519 were male and 2 were of third gender.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections also, Stephen Marandi of JMM won the Maheshpur seat after defeating Mistry Soren of BJP by a margin of 34,106 (20.62%) voters for the seat. JMM had a vote share of 53.94% in 2019 in this seat.
In the Jharkhand Assembly elections 2014 also, Stephen Marandi of JMM won the seat after defeating Devidhan Tudu of BJP with a margin of 6,156 (3.83%) votes cast for the seat. JMM had a vote share of 32.25% in 2014 in the Maheshpur seat.

In the 2009 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Mistri Soren of JVM won this seat after defeating Devidhan Tudu of BJP with a margin of 21,974 (19.36%) votes cast for this assembly seat. JVM had a vote share of 44.7% in 2009 in this seat.
