NEET UG 2024 examination has remained in the news for several reasons such as the historic high number of registrations, alleged paper leak rumors, and cancellation of the exam at certain centers, and now the result. Since the result was announced on June 4, 2024, this has created a nationwide uproar among students who are questioning the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) credibility over multiple result-related aspects.
Considering so many irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 examination and the result, students are demanding a re-examination. Student associations, political leaders, and several social media influencers are questioning the credibility of results and raising awareness surrounding the alleged concerns in the largest medical entrance examination in the country.
However, NTA has issued a clarification regarding queries on NEET UG 2024 results.

What are the 10 major Key highlights of the NEET UG 2024?
- NEET UG – 2024 Result was supposed to be declared on June 14, 2024, but the result was preponed and announced on June 4, 2024. The national testing agency is questioned over the haste to declare the result 10 days earlier than the scheduled time. NTA clarified that the NEET (UG) result was declared at the earliest after the completion of result processing.
- This year a record of 67 students secured AIR 1 with a percentile score of 99.997129. The questions are asked on how such an unprecedented number of students secured full marks (720) with AIR 1. While this number was 2 in 2023 and 4 in 2024. However, NTA clarified that out of the 67 candidates, 44 were on account of the revision in one answer key of Physics, and 6 were compensated for the loss of time.
- Reportedly, some students secured 718, 719 marks which is technically impossible to achieve as for every wrong answer 4 marks are lost and 1/4th goes in the negative marking. NTA clarified that the loss of time was ascertained and candidates were compensated with marks based on their answering efficiency and time lost.
- NTA claims to award grace marks based on the court order, however, students question the transparency of the agency and argue that no methodology has been mentioned to award grace marks.
- The questions are also raised on 8 students in the toppers list who appeared for the NEET (UG)-2024 exam at the same center in Haryana. This unusual pattern in the top scorers has fuelled doubts.
- The marks and rank disproportion have also demanded scrutiny of the results. A significant discrepancy was observed in the ranking system as a huge difference was observed over a small margin of marks. 700 Marks – 2250 Rank, 685Marks – 6777 Rank, 675Marks – 11600 Rank, 665Marks – 17800 Rank and 630Marks – 48600 Rank
- In Godra, Gujarat’s Panchmahal district, a racket emerged involving 3 people in the alleged malpractice promising six candidates to solve the papers for a sum of Rs 10 lakh each.
- Social media reports emerged regarding question paper leaks. One particular video circulated showed a person turning the sheets of a question booklet, and in the background, slogans were being raised.
- During the NEET UG 2024 examination, there was an incident of incorrect distribution of question papers by the Center Superintendent. Regarding the unfair means cases, NTA said to register cases against the impersonators and cases have been registered by the state police.
- The lakhs of students are demanding re-examination over the lack of clarity in the exam and have asked for the Supreme Court’s intervention.
