Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly built state-of-the art world class campus of IIM Sambalpur in Sambalpur, Odisha. Raghubar Dar, Governor of Odisha and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were also present at the event.

PM Narendra Modi recalled laying the foundation stone of IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Sambalpur during the pandemic and praised those associated with the completion of the campus amid all obstacles. “Now, with the establishment of IIM Sambalpur as a modern institute of management, the state’s role is being further strengthened”, PM Modi said while addressing the audience at the inauguration event of IIM Sambalpur”s permanent campus.

On the occasion of inauguration event Governor Raghubar Das also expressed his pleasure over the newly formed campus and emphasised the opportunities opened for children in Sambalpur.  “This state-of-the-art campus will not only prove beneficial for the children studying here, but will also open new doors of possibilities for Sambalpur”, he wrote on X.

According to the official information, one of the most striking features of the campus is the representation of regional art that creates a symbiotic relationship with the architecture. The brick facade features an elegant mapping of Odisha”s traditional IKAT, a patterned textile-dyeing method, in colors reminiscent of the state”s soils.

The newly inaugurated campus is unique in terms of sustainable infrastructure and India’s commitment towards energy efficient system. Under the official information, the sustainable campus with a 4-star GRIHA rating is developed using eco-friendly and energy-efficient development concepts. All of the campus”s interior spaces with fresh air ventilation and regularly inhabited living areas will be fully lighted during the day. STP treated water will be used for flushing and irrigation. Significantly less electricity will be used if LED lights and ECBC-compliant energy-efficient electric appliances—such as DG sets, transformers, lifts, pumps, motors, etc.—are used.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by CMDs and CEOs of many PSUs and Corporates. Over 4000 guests from Industry, Civil Society, Academia and Government officials were present at the occasion.
