Retired SBI Employee Proves Age Is Just A Number; Achieves MBBS Dream At 64

Jay Kishore Pradhan, a retired State Bank of India (SBI) employee, finished his MBBS degree at the age of 64. He cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in 2020. Pradhan who hails from Odisha, retired as a deputy manager from SBI.

After retiring people dream of living a peaceful life with family and spend mostly in a spiritual manner. Instead of living the dream of a common individual Jay Kishore Pradhan chose to follow his long-held aspiration of entering into the medical field. To follow his dream, Pradhan took admission into an online coaching program that helped him by providing guidance and a framework to study in this new field.

Nothing comes without challenge and Pradhan also had to face it while maintaining a balance between personal life and studying towards his dream to become a doctor at this stage of life.

The National Medical Commission Act, 2019 clause helped him to achieve his dream which under section 14, says that there is no age limit for candidates to take admission into the NEET UG course. This enourages aspirning medical students of all ages to pursue their dreams and attain career aspirations at any stage of life.

In 2020, NEET UG exam, Pradhan got admission into the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, one of Odisha’s premier government run health institute, to pursue his medical education.
