UPSC Launches New Application Portal For Exams
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced a revamped Online Application Portal to simplify the registration and application process for the competitive examinations. The new system is now live at upsconline.nic.in, replacing the older One-Time Registration (OTR) module.
As per the official notice, applicants shall use their Aadhaar Card as an ID document in the Universal Application for easy, effortless, and seamless verification and authentication of ID and other details. After this, it serves as a permanent and common record for all examinations.
This advance-fill model is expected to minimise last-minute traffic surges on the website by allowing candidates to prepare their profiles early. Once the first three parts are completed, aspirants only need to fill in exam-specific information when a notification is released, saving time and avoiding submission errors close to deadlines.

Four-module system
The upgrade portal introduces a four-part structure, enabling candidates to enter most of their information in advance and apply quickly when exam notifications are released. The four modules include – account creation, universal registration, common application form, and examination section.
Only the examination section requires input during the specific application window of a notified examination.
UPSC is encouraging applicants to use an Aadhaar card as their primary ID during the Universal Registration. Aadhaar-linked registration ensures smooth verification and authentication, and once completed, it becomes a permanent identity record for all future applications.
