A 3-judge bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud listened to the matter to postpone the NEET PG 2024. Supreme Court dismissed the petition to reschedule the examination on August 11. The exam will now be conducted as per the schedule. The Supreme Court bench is constituted of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice J B Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra.
NBEMS will conduct the NEET PG 2024 examination on August 11, 2024, in two shifts. More than 2 lakh students are appearing for the examination.
Here are some key highlights of the court hearing today.
- CJI said that to reschedule the PG exam is not possible. Every candidate is equal to us, Chief Justice said.
- DY Chandrachud also mentioned the more number of petitions demanding to postpone the exams, “Nowadays people just come – alright postpone exams”, said CJI.
- The Supreme Court Chief Justice said that the bench will not reschedule the exam as this will impact 2 lac students and 4 lac parents. “At the behest of 5 petitioners will keep careers of 2 lacs students in jeopardy”, CJI said.
- The bench also said that the real petitioners are also not known behind these petitions.
- Sanjay Hegde the petitioner representative said the number of centres have cut down from 1200 to 500.
- The petitioner argued that the NEET UG matter also affected the NEET PG exams.
- The petitioner also raised some other NEET PG exam-related matters including normalisation of the papers and demanded for exam to be conducted in a single shift. In response to this CJI said that they are not academicians.
- Sanjay Hegde mentioned receiving nearly 50,000 phone calls concerning the NEET PG 2024 exam.
