The aspirants waiting for the results became increasingly restless with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent announcement regarding the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE-4). In a social media post on Monday, the Chief Minister stated that the upcoming 4th phase of the TRE will prioritise Bihar domicile holders for teacher appointments.
Under this domicile policy, only residents of Bihar will be eligible to apply for the TRE-4, which is slated to be held in 2025 by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The demand for a domicile policy was a long-standing request from aspirants preparing for teacher recruitment exams.

The Chief Minister said the education department has been asked to amend the existing rules and regulations of the teacher recruitment process. He announced that the fifth phase of the TRE will be held in 2026, and the STET will be conducted before the sixth phase.
Meanwhile, a current demonstration organised by a coalition of STET aspirants is against the delay in the announcement of STET 2025 results. Although the exam was conducted earlier this year, the results have yet to be declared, and no information about them has been updated on the BSEB website.
Many candidates fear that the forthcoming TRE-4 could proceed before the STET results are released. This delay could render B.Ed and D.El.Ed qualified candidates ineligible to apply.

Jobs are one of the most important issues to address in poll-bound Bihar. As a strategic pre-election measure, the Nitish Kumar government on July 8 announced a 35% reservation for women native to Bihar in all government jobs, a move to consolidate the support of the state’s unemployed youth.
