
What Is LEAP Launched By Andhra Govt To Transform Education?
Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has announced to launch LEAP (Learning Excellence Andhra Pradesh), a comprehensive model aimed to tranform learning outcomes for students in the state. The initiative would be implemented from 2025-26 academic session and aims to overhaul the state’s education system.
The launch of LEAP marks a significant shift towards a more holistic, skill based and technology driven approach in education sector. The LEAP will focus on foundational literacy and numercy (FLN), with active learning, pedagogy training and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based remedial assessment programme as core component.

The Andhra Education Minister said that LEAP is focusing on inclusive growth, global best practices, and foundational learning. The decision to introduce the new model is derived from the ASER report findings reflecting poor learning outcomes among students.
To address the challenge of poor learning among students, the government aims to create a world-class education system in the state by 2029, with a focus on outcome-based education and equipping students with skills , technical knowledge using cutting edge technology such as AI.
To ensure personalised learning, LEAP will provide prescriptive learning tools and e-content based on assessment data. Teacher development is a also a central element of the LEAP program. Teacher performance data will be linked with student learning outcomes, e-content for best teaching practices, e-modules for vocational education and dedicated workshops and mentorship initiatives for school principals will be initiated.

The state is also targeting pre-primary and primary classrooms to incorportate Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) features and enrich with print rich environment.
The curriculum and pedagogy will be aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, with a focus on 21st-century competencies, digital literacy and holistic learning.
Also two to three model Anganwadi Centre Schools (AWCs) will be established in each assembly constituency to faciliate early childhood education. AWCs will get girl child toilets, electricity and water connections.
