The Directorate of Education issued a circular, directed to the heads of all schools to implement 10 bagless days in schools for students of classes 6 to 8. The DoE issued guidelines for the implementation of 10 bagless days across the government and private schools in Delhi.
The guidelines are developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as per the National Education Policy 2020 recommendations. As per the circular, the guidelines aim to make learning at school an experiential, joyful, and stress-free experience for students.
According to the Directorate of Education, activities can be carefully chosen considering the optimum resources available at the school’s disposal. Bagless activities conducted during the execution of the Happiness Curriculum or excursion visits etc can also become part of the bagless days.

The guidelines suggest that students may visit historical monuments, cultural sites, craft centres, places of tourist interest, and many more under the bagless days. Students can also meet with artists and craftsmen, to widen their understanding of different concepts and traditional arts. This will help them to appreciate the importance of preserving heritage.
In July, the Union Ministry of Education had also notified similar guidelines for the bagless days for classes 6 to 8. These guidelines were issued by the PSSC Central Institute of Vocational Education. These guidelines emphasize joyful learning through vocational exposure. During the bagless days, students were to get the opportunity to intern with local vocational experts and learn practical skills and insights into various professions.
