Will Revise NEET Result, No Paper Leak: NTA Chief On NEET "Irregularities"

The Centre forms committee to re-examine NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) results of the 1600 students who were given grace marks, says report. The committee will be headed by an ex UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) chairperson. Reportedly, the revised result will come out within a week. As per the report, the revision of result will not affect the admission process.

Earlier, the Director General of NEET, Subodh Kumar Singh, denied the allegations of paper leak. He clarified that the issue concerning to the examination is related to six centres, and 1,600 candidates, who have lost their time due to the wrong distribution of question paper.

Singh said that the NTA has formed a high powered committee to analyse the grievances of the 1,600 candidate, as reported by media.

He made the remarks while speaking at a press conference. “Out of 4,750 exam centres, the problem was limited to six centres, and out of 24 lakh candidates, only 1,600 candidates were affected. The integrity of this exam throughout the country was not compromised”, he said.

He further added that the compensation with the said grace marks has not affected the qualifying criteria.

Several aspirants of the examination has reported about the inflation of marks which led to 67 candidates bagging top ranks. The rank holders also include six students from the same exam centre.

NTA denied the allegations of foul play and added that changes made in the NCERT textbooks, and the grace marks given to the examination centres are some of the reasons behind the top scores.
