AAP shared a video alleging BJP leader distributing money, shoes, and blankets to Delhi voters.

New Delhi: Barely hours after Delhi Police launched a probe against BJP leader Parvesh Verma for allegedly distributing money and setting up job camps ahead of Delhi assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) shared a video of Verma allegedly distributing money, shoes, and blankets to voters.

Sharing a video, the party alleged that the BJP candidate from the New Delhi constituency was “openly flouting the code of conduct” right “under the nose of the Election Commission.”

“Money, shoes, blankets, and sheets are being distributed to voters. But can’t the Election Commission and the District Election Officer see all this or do you not want to see it?” said AAP in an X post.

The party also accused the ruling BJP of “killing democracy” with the Election Commission watching the “spectacle” with eyes blindfolded.

The new allegations follow complaints filed by the AAP and convenor Arvind Kejriwal over Verma allegedly setting up job camps under the “Har Ghar Naukari” campaign for registrations and distributing Rs 1100 to voters.

According to election officers, however, the flying squads assigned to monitor model code of conduct violations did not find any camps or pamphlets as alleged by the AAP.

The New Delhi district election officer in an action taken report submitted to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Delhi said that the police authorities were asked to investigate the matter. It also added that instructions were issued to take preventative measures against holding job camps on January 15.

The New Delhi constituency will witness a triangular contest between Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit, BJP’s Parvesh Verma, and AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi will go to the polls in a single phase on February 5. The counting of the votes will take place on February 8.
