Model Town Election Result: Ashok Goel Of BJP Leads

In the Model Town assembly constituency, Ashok Goel of the BJP party won, defeating the incumbent minister and the three-time MLA of AAP, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, with a margin of 13,415 votes.

Ashok Goel won the election by securing a total of 52,108 votes and defeated AAP’s candidate Akhilesh Pati Tripathi. The AAP candidate who aimed for a fourth consecutive time lost the election as he secured 38,693 votes.

In the previous Assembly elections, AAP’s Akhilesh Tripathi won the seat for the third consecutive time by a margin of 11,133 and proved the dominance of the party in the consitutency. But this election changed the political dynamics of the Model Town assembly constituency, with Ashok Goel securing the victory.

This constituency has been witnessing the dominance of the AAP party since the 2013 election, when Akhilesh Tripathi ended the decade-long rule of the Congress party with a margin of 7,875 votes.

In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of AAP won in this seat, defeating Vivek Garg of BJP by a margin of 16,706, which was 16.02% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 52.38% in 2015 in this seat.

In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of AAP won this seat, defeating Ashok Goel of BJP by a margin of 7,875, which was 8.15% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 39.84% in 2013 in this seat.

In the 2008 Delhi Assembly elections, Kanwar Karan Singh of INC won in this seat, defeating Bhola Nath Vij of BJP by a margin of 2,997, which was 3.52% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 46.87% in 2008 in this seat.
