Sadar Bazar Election Result: AAP's Som Dutt Leads
Som Dutt, the strong candidate of the AAP and the sitting MLA, won the Sadar Bazar seat for the fourth time with 56,177 votes. He defeated BJP’s Manoj Kumar Jindal, a sitting Municipal Councillor from Shastrinagar (Central), with a margin of 6,307 votes and Anil Bharadwaj, ex-MLA from Congress, with a margin of 46,120 votes.
Sadar Bazar, one of the key assembly seats in the national capital, has been witnessing the dominance of the AAP party since the 2013 election. Som Dutt, the incumbent minister, has a history of representing the constituency for over a decade.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Dutt won the seat after securing 68,790 votes. His closest rival, Jai Prakash of the BJP, received 43,146 votes, while Satbir Sharma of the Indian National Congress managed to get 9,857 votes.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Dutt registered victory after receiving 67,507 votes. He defeated Parveen Kumar Jain of the BJP, who received 33,192 votes, and Ajay Maken of the Congress, who got 16,331 votes.
In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Som Dutt of AAP won in this seat, defeating Jai Parkash of BJP by a margin of 796, which was 0.73% of the total votes cast for the seat. AAP had a vote share of 31.24% in 2013 in this seat.
In the 2008 Delhi Assembly elections, Rajesh Jain of INC won this seat, defeating Jai Prakash of BJP by a margin of 14,089, which was 15.85% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 53.44% in 2008 in this seat.
