Rohini Election Result: BJP Incumbent MLA Vijender Gupta Wins
Vijender Gupta of BJP won the electoral battle in the Rohini constituency of Delhi. Securing his hat trick win, the incumbent minister bagged a total of 70,365 votes.
Meanwhile, Pradeep Mittal of AAP, who aimed to end the decade-long rule of the saffron party in the constituency, managed to secure 32,549 votes.
In this election, the Rohini constituency, which is one of the key battlegrounds in Northwest Delhi, witnessed fierce contest between BJP’s sitting MLA Vijender Gupta and AAP’s Pradeep Mittal.
The Rohini assembly seat has long been a stronghold of the BJP party, with Vijender Gupta representing the constituency in the past three elections. Won with a margin of 37,816 votes, Vijender Gupta has once again proven the stronghold of the BJP party in the Rohini constituency.
Gupta had also contested the 2009 Lok Sabha election from the Chandni Chowk constituency against Kapil Sibal of the Congress but lost. Gupta was nominated BJP Delhi president on 15 May 2010. He contested the 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly election from New Delhi but lost to Arvind Kejriwal.
In the Delhi state elections of 2015, he contested again from Rohini and won. He was one of the three BJP candidates to pull a win. Vijender Gupta was appointed the leader of opposition (LoP) in the Delhi assembly on 16 April 2015.
In the 2020 Delhi elections, BJP’s Vijender Gupta emerged victorious by defeating AAP’s Rajesh Nama Bansiwala with a margin of 12,648 votes.
As one of Delhi’s 70 assembly seats, Rohini holds strategic importance in shaping the political landscape. With both parties aggressively campaigning, the results will play a pivotal role in determining the electoral direction in Northwest Delhi.
