New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the Election Commission (EC) of refusing to upload Form 17C, which contains details of votes polled per booth, despite multiple requests. In response, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a website, transparentelections.in, where data from every assembly constituency has been uploaded.
Kejriwal stated that throughout the day, AAP would present the data in a tabulated format for easy access to ensure voters have complete transparency. He criticised the EC for not taking this step, arguing that it should have been done in the interest of fair elections.
Counting for all 70 Delhi Assembly constituencies is set to take place tomorrow. The city is witnessing a three-way contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AAP, and Congress. In the last election, AAP secured 62 seats.
Polling for the Delhi Assembly elections, held on 5 February, recorded a voter turnout of 60.54% as per updates till 4 PM. The Election Commission stated that Form 17C, containing the vote count, was provided to all authorised agents at polling stations after voting concluded.
A total of 13,766 polling stations, including 733 auxiliary booths, were set up across the city. The entire polling process was monitored through live webcasting. Additionally, 70 polling stations each were managed by women, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and youth to create an inclusive voting environment.
Kejriwal’s move comes as Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has raised concerns over a surge of 39 lakh new voters in Maharashtra within five months of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He, along with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule, has demanded the Election Commission release Maharashtra’s updated voter list.
