Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, after taking oath as the first chief minister of the newly carved out Union Territory, has asked the police chief that “there is to be no “green corridor” or traffic stoppage when I move anywhere by road.”
The new chief minister said he has spoken to the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir about the issue, noting that he has instructed him to minimise public inconvenience and the use of sirens.

“The use of any stick waving or aggressive gestures is to be totally avoided. I’m asking my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. In everything our conduct must be people friendly. We are here to serve the people & not to inconvenience them,” newly elected Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdulla wrote on X.

The National Conference leader took oath as the chief minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today. The INDIA bloc including Congress, CPI(M) and National Conference emerged victorious in the first assembly elections since the abrogation of article 370. Omar Abdullah took charge as the chief minister for the second time in the Union Territory while the Congress decided not to be part of the cabinet citing its resentment over not restoring statehood to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
