Amidst The Criticism, Rashmika Mandanna Releases A ‘Surrogate Ad’ On Atal Setu

After the actress Rashmika Mandanna faced criticism over her praise for “freaking brilliant” “growth of last 10 years” in a recent interview, the Pushpa actress today shared a seemingly “surrogate advertisement” on Atal Setu bridge of Mumbai, in which she is seen directly asking for voting for ‘development’. Election to many important Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai is scheduled to be held in upcoming weeks.

The actress in a recent interview with news agency ANI mentioned Atal Setu Bridge, praising Prime Minister Modi for making the journey easy with infrastructure development. The actress had said that India achieved tremendous growth over the past ten years, and was not stopping anywhere. “It”s freaking brilliant in the last 10 years how the country has grown. The infrastructure, the plan in our country, the road planning, everything, it is just brilliant – I think now it”s our time!” she said during the interview.

However, after facing criticism for endorsing the present regime, Rashmika”s new video released on her official Instagram platform saw her indirectly seeking votes for the re-election of the present government as she is seen talking about the aspirational Bharat and young India.

In the video created like an ad, the actress, who predominantly worked in the South film industry, was seen riding through the Atal Setu bride, lauding the country”s infrastructure development. Attributing the development to visionary planning in recent years, she claimed that rapid development happened in the past seven years.

After talking about “rapid development” in the past few years, the actress was seen asking the voters to vote for development, seeking votes for the present regime indirectly.

Notably, many expressed their shock over the actress”s sudden political endorsement, while many others doubted it was a paid promotion. Users asked the actress if it was a paid promotion or a political campaign. Some users argued that the bridge plan was initiated by the Congress government, and not the current government. Some also dig up a 2020 Income Tax (IT) raid in her house seizing Rs 25 lakh unaccounted cash, attributing her abrupt endorsement of the present government.

Many users slammed the actress accusing her of insensitively releasing such a promotional video when at least 16 people lost their lives during the recent hoarding collapse incident.

Talking in ecstasy,  the actress said she felt proud of the infrastructure development, and that she was speechless at the growth over the last ten years and she considers India to be the smartest country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Atal Setu, India’s largest sea link bridge in January, connecting Mumbai with Navi Mumbai.
