Pradyut Bordoloi is fielded as the Congress candidate from the Nagaon constituency. Pradyut is currently serving as the member of the parliament for Nowgong Lok Sabha constituency since 2019. He has earlier served as four-term member of the Assam legislative assembly representing Margherita from 1998 to 2016.

Bordoloi has also served as the minister in the Government of Assam between 2001 and 2015. Born in 1958, the Congress leader hails from Margherita village. As for his educational qualification, he graduated from Cotton college, Guahati University with an MA and from Jawaharlal Nehru University with MPhil. Bordoloi was the President of the Assam unit of the National Students Union of India.

In the 1998 election, Bordoloi got elected in the by-poll from Margherita and was then re-elected in 2001, 2006, and 2011. He was the minister of the state in the First Tarun Gogoi Ministry from 2001 to 2006.

In the 2019 general elections, Bordoloi won from the Nowgong constituency by securing 7,39,724 votes against the BJP candidate Rupak Sarmah.

Being a senior cabinet minister in the second Tarun Gogoi ministry, he held several portfolios including Industries, commerce, power and public enterprises. He gained respect and acclaim for his dedication to improving infrastructure, changing education, and fostering agricultural expansion. He stepped down as the minister in the 2015 cabinet reshuffle.

Bordoloi was then appointed as the senior government spokesperson and advisor to the chief minister. In 2019, Bordoloi was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nowgong. His triumph established his status as a well-known national leader and signaled a dramatic change in the political climate of the area.
