Indian National Congress Kuldeep Vats has defeated BJP candidate Omprakash Dhankar with 17,681 votes. Kuldeep Vats polled 61,805 votes while compared to Omprakash Dhankar’s 44,124.
The Badli constituency in the district of Jhajjar is one of the 90 assembly seats in Haryana. The seat which falls under the Jhajjar district of Haryana state, traditionally sees a direct fight between Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Badli has witnessed a tough fight between regular rivals- Vats and Dhankar. In the 2024 election, the BJP gave ticket to Omprakash Dhankar while Congress has fielded MLA Vats. APP had nominated Harpal Singh and JJP has fielded Krishan Kumar.
In the 2019 assembly election, Congress’ Kuldeep Vats defeated BJP candidate Omprakash Dhankar with a margin of 11,245 votes.
During the 2019 Haryana Assembly election, BJP emerged victorious, bagging 40 of the 90 seats. The BJP formed the government in coalition with Dushyant Chautala-led JJP, which managed to win 10 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress party received 31 seats and the remaining were taken by INLD, Haryana Lokhit Party and independent candidate.
