BJP Leads in Kamareddy, Revanth Reddy And KCR Behind

BJP candidate K Venkata Ramana Reddy won Kamareddy Assembly segment in a tough fight with BRS supremo KCR and Congress President A Revanth Reddy.  Ramana Reddy secured victory by gathering 66652 votes, where KCR and Revanth Reddy obtained 59911 and 54916  votes respectively.

Earlier, in a surprising turn, BJP candidate K Venkata Ramana Reddy, former chairman of Nizamabad zilla parishad is currently leading in Kamareddy constituency placing KCR and Congress President trailing behind. Before noon, Revanth Reddy was in lead, where KCR in second postion with BJP candidate further behind.

For KCR, Kamareddy assembly constituency is a native region since he was born in Konapur village in maternal grandparents’ house. Kamareddy has been BRS’s sitting seat, and Gampa Govardhan of BRS (then TRS) won elections as an MLA five times in 1994, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2018. KCR decided Kamareddy as his second seat when Gampa Govardhan dropped the seat.

The 119 seats of Telangana Assembly segments went for polls in a single phase on November 30. Telangana witnessed a three-cornered fight between BRS, Congress and BJP. In 2018 Assembly elections, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats, securing 46. 8 per cent of the vote share while Congress could gather only 19 seats with 28. 4 per cent vote share. In the elections, BRS has put up candidates for a total 119 seats, where Congress in 118 seats, and gave one seat to its ally CPI.
