Congress’ Brijendra Singh Ola is gearing up to win his next election. The Olas has the Jhunjhunu seat for a long time. While Brijendra is the four term MLA of the constituency, his late father Sis Ram Ola was a former union minister. The Bharatiya Janata Party could only win the Jhunjhun seat in 2003, since 2008 election onwards, the constituency is Brijendra’s forte.
Brijendra is an important name in Rajasthan politics. He served in many positions before. The politician started his political career with Congress influenced by his father. Brijendra won his first assembly election in 2008 from the Jhunjhun seat. Since then he retained the seat in all the other three election, with the last one in 2023.
He served as the State Minister of Transport and Road Safety from 2021 to 2023 under the Ashok Gehlot government. He also served as State Minister of Rajasthan from 2009 to 2013. In 2017, Brijendra won the Best MLA award. According to affidavit given to the Election Commission of India, Brijendra owns asset worthy of Rs 8,32,47,000.
In the upcoming Lok Sabah election, Brijendra will be contesting against BJP’s Shubhakaran Choudhary, former MLA of Udaipurwati. Both the candidates are from Jat community, making the election arena more interesting, as Jhunjhun seat is a Jat-dominated. However, Muslim community, Saini and Rajput also plays a key role in the election. Though total of ten candidates have submitted nomination from the seat, the direct competition will be between the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
