The Sujanipur born Chandanji has been associated to Congress for a long time. Though his education level is only up to 10th grade, he is a farmer and builder by profession. He contested in the Gujarat Assembly election in 2017, as a Congress candidate and won the seat against BJP”s Jayanarayan Vyas. He served as the Siddhapur MLA from 2017 to 2022.

Upon receiving the ticket for the Lok Sabha election, Chandanji said that Patan has been wronged by BJP for the paste several years.
