“Competition To Chameleons”: Congress On Nitish Kumar Volte-Face

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has done another flip flop and went back to the PM Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today. This is the fifth time in last 11 years the Janata Dal United (JDU) leader shifting his political allegiances.

Commenting on his shift, Congress, main constituent of the Opposition INDIA alliance of which Nitish Kumar was a major brain, said the Bihar leader “is giving tough competition to chameleons in changing colours”.

Nitish Kumar was leading an alliance, Mahagadbandhan or Grand Alliance of Indian Opposition parties in Bihar, including JDU, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s JDU, Congress and Left parties.

”Nitish Kumar, who frequently changes political partners, is giving tough competition to the chameleons in changing colours. The people of Bihar will not forgive the experts of this betrayal and those who made them dance on their tune. It is quite clear that the Prime Minister and the BJP are scared of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and this political drama has been created to divert attention from it,” Congress general secretary of communications Jairam Ramesh posted on X.

Mr Ramesh was commenting on an alert in which the former Bihar chief minister said that he has resigned as chief minister.

“I have resigned as Chief Minister and ended this government. I was getting suggestions from all around. I had quit an earlier alliance for a new tie-up. But the situation was not okay. So I have resigned,” Nitish Kumar told media.
