In Ellenabad assembly constituency, Bharat Singh Beniwal of Indian National Congress wins the election. He won teh election by defeating long term MLA Abhay Singh Chautala with the margin of 15,000 votes.
The Ellenabad assembly constituency is situated in Sirsa district of Haryana. During the 2019 assembly election, the voter turn-out of the constituency were 84%. Though there were 178442 voters in the year, only 149947 casted their votes. Ellenabad is one of the nine segments of Sirsa Lok Sabha seat.
The constituency was previously known as Kharial. The current MLA of the constituency is Abhay Singh Chautala, of Indian National Lok dal (INLD). The constituency has a majority of Hindu population. It also has a significant minority of Sikh, and small Muslim and Christian communities. It has been an INLD bastion since 2000, with Abhay Chautala holding the seat since 2010.
In 2019, Abhay Singh Chautala of INLD won the seat by defeating Pawan Beniwal of BJP with the margin of 11,922 votes. In 2014 also Abhay Singh defeated Beniwal with the margin of 11,539 votes.
There were total of 10 candidates vying for the seat. The key players were Abhay Singh Chautala of INLD, INC’s Bharat Singh Beniwal, and BJP’s Amir Chand Mehta.
