The LDF is trailing with leads in 8 seats, while the NDA has opened its account in 4 constituencies.

LDF: 63

NDA: 5  (8:40 AM)

Earlier in the morning, the UDF had taken a smaller lead, ahead in six seats compared to LDF’s two and BJP’s one, but momentum appears to be building as counting progresses.

Vote counting is underway at 140 centres across 43 locations in Kerala. The process began with the counting of postal ballots, which account for approximately 1.36% of the total votes cast.

Strongrooms storing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were opened at around 6:30 am under strict supervision by Election Commission officials, security personnel, and candidate representatives.

The state has deployed over 32,000 police personnel, including Central Armed Police Forces, to ensure smooth and secure counting. Surveillance measures such as CCTV monitoring and drone tracking have been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents.

Leaders across party lines have expressed confidence as early trends emerge. Congress MP Jebi Mather voiced optimism about a decisive UDF victory, claiming the alliance could cross 100 seats and form the next government.

On the other hand, BJP leaders, including Sunil Sharma, highlighted the party’s growing support base, suggesting that the NDA could play a significant role in shaping Kerala’s political future.

While early trends offer a glimpse into voter sentiment, a clearer picture of the final outcome is expected by the afternoon as more rounds of counting are completed.

The results will be crucial in determining whether the LDF retains power or if the UDF stages a comeback, with the NDA aiming to expand its footprint in the state.

Stay tuned for continuous live updates as Kerala decides its political future.
