The Uddhav Thackeray-led faction of the Shiv Sena released first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Former Union ministers Anant Geete and Arvind Sawant find place in the list and will contest from Raigad and South Mumbai constituencies respectively.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut announced the party”s list of 16 candidates on Wednesday. Among them, 11 names were already announced by party chief Uddhav Thackeray while visiting the respective Lok Sabha constituencies in previous month.
Shiv Sena (UBT) will be fielding in 22 seats in total and remaining seats will be announced in a couple of days. The party has placed five of its sitting MPs again in the poll fray reaffirming faith in them.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena is also likely to release their first list of candidates in coming days.
Maharashtra comprises 48 Lok Sabha seats, constituting the second highest after Uttar Pradesh. And the state will vote in five phases, beginning on April 19. The Uddhav Thackeray-led faction is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the state. MVA includes the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), and Congress. The ruling alliance in the state consists Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, BJP, and Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar).
