Mangol Puri Election Result: Raj Kumar Chauhan Of BJP Wins

In the Mangol Puri constituency of Delhi, Raj Kumar Chauhan of BJP won the seat with 62,007 votes, whereas Rakesh Jatav of the ruling party, AAP, failed to retain the seat as he secured 55,752 votes.

The Mangol Puri constituency of Delhi witnessed a crucial contest with AAP fielding Rakesh Javat, replacing the incumbent minister and the 3-time winner Rakhi Brila. In this election, Rakesh Javat was fielded against the four-time MLA, Raj Kumar Chauhan from BJP and Hanuman Sahay Alias Hanuman Chauhan from INC.

This Mangol Puri constituency has been witnessing the victory of the AAP party since the 2013 election. The AAP candidate Rakhi Brila had been the face of the party in the constituency for over a decade.

This election played a crucial role in Mangol Puri’s political environment since AAP replaced Rakhi Brila with Rakesh Javat. Securing the victory with a margin of 6,255 votes, Raj Kumar Chauhan got back the seat that he lost in 2008.

Raj Kumar Chauhan, who was once a member of the Congress party, cut his ties with the party on April 21, 2024, and joined BJP. He resigned from the grand old party after facing alleged humiliation by Delhi Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria.

In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Rakhi Birla of AAP won in this constituency, beating Karam Singh Karma of BJP by a margin of 30,116 votes, which was 23.77% of the total votes cast.

In 2015, Rakhi Birla of AAP was the winner in this seat, beating Raj Kumar Chauhan of INC by a margin of 22,699 votes, which was 17.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency.

In 2013, Rakhi Birla of AAP was the winner in this seat, beating Raj Kumar Chauhan of INC by a margin of 10,585 votes, which was 9.16% of the total votes polled in the constituency.
