Mass Displacement Of Over 70,000 Voters In Dharavi: Congress
In a startling revelation, the Dharavi Congress has accused authorities of a mass displacement affecting nearly 70,000 voters in Dharavi’s recently published voter list. Jyoti Eknath Gaikwad, the local Congress MLA, described the situation as a “Hera Pheri” and flagged a systematic shifting of voters from their original wards to distant, unconnected ones, raising fears of voter confusion and manipulation.
Jyoti Gaikwad explained that under the guidance of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Dharavi Congress meticulously examined every page of the voter list and found that between 6,000 and 10,000 voters per ward had been shifted to wards with no logical geographical connection. One notable example includes entire neighbourhoods like Social Nagar being moved far away from their original location. She pointed out that if it were merely a small mix-up involving adjacent wards, it might have been understandable. However, the deliberate transfer of voters to far-off wards seems aimed at creating chaos and confusion on polling day, potentially disenfranchising voters who arrive at their usual booths only to find their names missing.
The MLA and her team lodged a formal protest with the local Municipal Corporation ward office. She also highlighted the procedural hurdles faced by displaced voters, revealing that the current system allows only for individual voter objections and suggestions. This lack of a mechanism to report large-scale displacement means voters would have to file thousands of individual forms—a near-impossible task given the short time frame. She criticised this as “bureaucracy being weaponised” and condemned the Election Commission for turning the process into a punitive policy. Jyoti vowed that the Dharavi Congress would not remain silent, pledging to continue demanding transparency, exposing irregularities, and fighting to protect every vote in Dharavi.
Supporting Jyoti Gaikwad’s statements, Mumbai Congress president and Mumbai North Central MP Varsha Eknath Gaikwad echoed concerns about the voter list discrepancies. She described the displacement as not a mere blunder, given that displaced voters had been moved to wards distant and non-adjacent geographically. Varsha confirmed that a formal complaint had already been submitted to the ward officer.
She further revealed an alarming deficiency in the Election Commission’s system, mentioning that there was no facility to report mass displacement except through individual forms by each affected voter. She questioned how voters could possibly manage to fill out thousands of forms within the tight deadline for objections and suggestions. Varsha demanded that the Election Commission urgently refer to the 2017 voter list, which she claimed had the correct entries, and immediately rectify the current flaws.
Varsha also reiterated the commitment of the Mumbai Congress to conduct an in-depth study of the voter lists and to keep filing formal complaints for every identified discrepancy. Despite these complaints and exposures, there has been no response so far from the Election Commission of India or ECI representatives.

Hera Pheri of nearly 70000 voters in Dharavi’s Voter List!
Following the clear direction of our leader Jannayak @RahulGandhi ji, Dharavi Congress has been carefully examining every page of the voter list to check #VoteChori. What we found is shocking.
Across Dharavi, 6000 to 10000 voters per ward have been quietly shifted from their original ward to some other ward altogether.
Entire neighbourhoods like Social Nagar, for example, have been moved to distant wards with no logical connection.
If this were a small mix up between adjoining wards, it could be understood. But this is systematic shifting to far-off wards.
The intention is clear. Confuse voters. Create chaos. Ensure people reach their usual booths on polling day only to discover their names missing.
We visited @mybmcWardGN and formally lodged our protest against this.
There’s more!
The forms that are provided right now for objections and suggestions are only meant for individual entries. There is no mechanism to report a mass displacement of voters.
We were told to submit individual forms for each of the 6000 to 10000 shifted voters per ward.
How is anyone supposed to file 10000 forms in a matter of days?
This is bureaucracy being weaponised. This is the Election Commission turning “process is the punishment” into policy.
We firmly believe this is a deliberate attempt to frustrate Dharavi’s voters and misuse these discrepancies for #VoteChori.
Dharavi Congress will not stay silent.
⭕ We will continue demanding transparency.
⭕ We will continue exposing every irregularity.
⭕ And we will continue fighting to protect every Dharavikar’s vote.
A formal complaint has been filed. We will keep following up.”
