"No One Would Be Forced...": Rahul Gandhi's Promise After Visiting House Of Farmer Who Committed Suicide

Congress, ahead of Assembly elections in Telangana, and in order to meet the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) front-to-front, introduced 6 guarantees as poll promises. They include ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, Rythu Bharosa’ scheme,‘Grih Jyoti’ scheme, ‘Indira Amma Indloo’ scheme, ‘Rajya Arogyashri’ scheme, and ‘Yuva Vikasam’ scheme.

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on social media platform X shared a story of farmer”s family in Jillela village of Telangana, where party”s Rythu Bharosa scheme offered support in times of their distress.

Narrating the story of Late Kummari Chandraiah, Congress MP wrote that the former was one of the many farmers in Telangana “unable to bear the burden of agricultural loan, committed suicide in 2020, leaving behind a devastated family.”

Mr Gandhi visited Kummari Tirupathamma, Mr Chandraiah”s wife, who currently works as an agricultural labourer to look after the family. Her debut burden has also increased. It was in such situation, Mr Gandhi said, Congress Guarantees are significant as it secures minimum welfare that each Indian family is being entitled.

Citing the story, he then added, “We will build a ‘Bangaru’ Telangana, where no one is forced to commit suicide. I will strive to ensure that no other family suffers like Chandraiah”s has.”

Rythu Bharosa Guarantee offers support to farmers, farm labourers and their families. Under this scheme, farmers & tenant farmers will receive Rs. 15,000/year, farm labourers will get ₹12,000/year and a Rs 500 bonus/ quintal will be given to Paddy.

Telangana will go to booths on November 30 and results will be announced on December 3.
