The BJP’s Mahipal Dhanda, a two-time MLA, won the Panipat Rural assembly seat, securing a third term with an impressive 1,01,079 votes. Congress candidate Sachin Kundu followed behind with 50,867 votes. The margin between the two candidates is a massive 50,212 votes.
Dhanda first won the Panipat rural seat in 2014 defeating IND’s Dhara Singh Rawal by a margin of 36,132 votes (23.32 percent) of the total votes cast.
In the 2019 elections, Dhanda secured a second term by defeating JJP’s Devender Kadian by a margin of 21,961 votes which was 13.35 percent of the total votes cast for the seat.
A total of 11 candidates are in the electoral fray for the Panipat Rural Assembly seat including Amit Maurya (LSOP), Devender (IND), Dipti (IND), Mahipal Dhanda (BJP), Master Kuldeep Redhu (IND), Raghunath Tanwar Kashyap (JJP), Ramesh Singla (IND), Ranbir Singh (BSP), Sachin Kundu (INC), Sukhvir Malik (AAP), and Vijay Jain (IND).
