In the Rai assembly constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Krishna Gahlawat, secured victory in the Haryana election. Gahlawat won the election by defeating Indian National Congress’ Jai Bhagwan Antil with a margin of 4,673 votes. Antil secured 59,941 votes.
While the Rai assembly constituency was the stronghold of Congress from 2005 to 2014, the BJP took up the seat from 2016 onwards. In 2005, Congress candidate Ramesh Chander won the seat. From 2009, Jai Tirath Dahiya secured the seat and won a second term in 2014 as well.
In the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, the BJP candidate Mohan Lal Badoli breached the Congress stronghold and won the seat under the BJP banner.
The BJP candidate Krishna Gahlawat, in the election affidavit, has zero criminal cases registered against her.
