The BJP candidate Manmohan Bhadana secured victory in Haryana’s Samalkha constituency. Intially, Congress candidate Dharam Singh Chhoker was leading with 14,463 votes and a margin of over 2,888 votes. However, as the process of counting continued, Bhadana came on top with 81,293 votes in his kitty. Chhoker ended up with 61,978 votes.
The BJP candidate won the seat with a margin of 19,315 votes.
Chhoker secured the seat first in the 2019 assembly elections with over 81,000 votes, defeating BJP candidate Shashi Kant Kaushik who won 66,956 votes. He first contested the elections for the Samalkha seat in 2014 but lost to independent candidate Ravinder Machhrouli who won 53,294 seats.
With this win, the BJP has finally secured power in the Samalkha Assembly constituency. The last time the saffron flag waved in Samalkha, it was in the 1967 assembly elections under the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, one of the ideological parents of the BJP.
