As the counting of votes are underway in four states, Telangana vote count show a major lead where Congress is showing leads with 63, where ruling BRS shows a distant second with 28. And BJP is moving at 10, and AIMIM, the friendly ally of BRS at 3. When KCR-led BRS government is looking nothing short of a hat-trick, the resurgent Congress giving its best fight to secure power in Telangana. Various exit polls also predicted win for Congress. The election marks a litmus test not only for KCR government but also for Congress”s senior leaders Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi.
The 119 seats of Telangana Assembly segments went for polls in a single phase on November 30. Telangana witnessed a three-cornered fight between BRS, Congress and BJP. In 2018 Assembly elections, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats, securing 46. 8 per cent of the vote share while Congress could gather only 19 seats with 28. 4 per cent vote share.
In the election BRS is put up candidates in all 119 seats, whereas Congress is fighting in 118 seats and gave one seat to its ally CPI. In an alliance, BJP and Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sen Party (JPS) are contesting in 111 and 8 seats respectively. Besides, Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, a friendly ally to BRS ,is contesting in nine assembly segments in the Hyderabad city.
