Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Candidate Muta Gopal retains the success in Musheerabad constituency election 2023 by defeating Indian National Congress candidate Anjan Kumar Yadav Manadi, who was the former Lok Sabha MP (2004-2014) from Secunderabad constituency. Musheerabad witnessed a tough three cornered fight between Muta Gopal, INC’s Anjan Kumar Yadav and Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Raju Poosa. Muta Gopal gathered 75,207 votes while Anjan Kumar came second with 37410 votes. The BJP candidate Raju Poosa who came third and garnered 35,423 votes. Muta Gopal succeeded in Musheerabad at a margin of 37,797 votes and retained his position as the member of Telangana Legislative assembly.
Telangana assembly election was held on November 30 for 119 seats. Musheerabad is one of the 15 constituencies in the capital city of Hyderabad region and Hyderabad district of the state of Telangana. This constituency include general and urban seats with 2,94,147 total eligible electors. In the last four assembly elections, candidates under the banner of BRS won twice in Musheerabad. Dr K Laxman, President of Bharatiya Janata Party unit of Telangana represented the constituency twice.
In 2014 assembly election, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dr K Laxman won the election with 65,209 votes which was the 43.22% of total votes. At that time, Muta Gopal of BRS was in the second position with 37,823 votes and acquired 25.07% of the total votes.This time, Vinay Kumar of INC came third and acquired 26,808 votes.
In 2018, Muta Gopal defeated the Congress candidate Anil Kumar Yadav and made a strong comeback. Muta Gopal was voted 72,997 votes which was the 50.42% of total votes polled. Anil Kumar, who came second garned with 36,087 total votes. The constituency had 2,74,087 total electors then.
Overall, according to the latest reports, out of the total 119 seats in Telangana, Indian National Congress was leading with the 64 seats and Bharat Rashtra Samithi was in the second position. Bharatiya Janata Party was in the third position in the total seat share with 8 seats. Along with Telangana, the assembly elections were held in other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram. The result of these states except Mizoram have also been announced today.
