On Thursday, Prakash Ambedkar led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) has released a list of 39-point which it seeks to include in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance”s joint manifesto for the incoming Lok Sabha elections.
Ambedkar took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the 39-point Common Minimum Program (CMP). He added that defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was on the list of top priorities for the VBA.
Grandson of B. R. Ambedkar also expressed his support and firm belief in the unity of the MVA, despite speculations of conflicts within the parties under the MVA. He added, “With RLD”s departure from INDIA Alliance today, the political inclusivity of INC is in doubt but I am still hopeful that MVA will not end like INDIA Alliance.” The VBA is expecting a date to be announced by the MVA to discuss the Common Minimum Program.
Despite the news about the growing conflict within the parties in the MVA, my and VBA’s stand remains and will remain positive for MVA.

Under the CMP, Ambedkar has demanded separate quotas for the OBC and Maratha category in Parliament and the assembly. Apart from OBC leaders across India, Ambedkar has also made demands for caste census. Ambedkar has also demanded for the cancellation of a contract given to the Adani group for the redevelopment of Dharavi and provide the residents of Dharavi a 550 square foot home under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scheme.
Other issues that the CMP covers include social justice, agriculture, tribal issues, education, land reforms and housing, employment and healthcare for minority groups.
Allies of MVA including the Congress, Shiv Sena and others are yet to comment on the proposals by the VBA.
