Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh is known as the Congress bastion. When incumbent MP Nakul Nath, the lone Congress winner in the previous Lok Sabha polls, seeks his second term in the constituency, the BJP has placed Vivek ‘Bunty’ Sahu as the rival candidate.  Nakul Nath”s father and former chief minister, Kamal Nath, represented Chhindwara for nine terms.

However, in the recent Assembly elections, Vivek Bunty Sahu pitted against Kamal Nath after a tough fight. In the polls, the Congress leader could secure success only by a margin of 36,500 votes, which was hailed as his bastion. Bunty Sahu has been continuously giving Kamal Nath difficult challenges as an opposing candidate.

Vivek Bunty Sahu serves as the BJP”s District President of Chhindwara. Even before this, Bunty Sahu was entrusted with the responsibility of handling the district organisation. By choosing him, the BJP central leadership is reposing faith and ensuring that by fielding a local candidate instead of an outside candidate, votes could work in their favour. He is quite active in the constituency, and his efforts in the region are also noticed.

Bunty Sahu began his political journey with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP”s youth wing. He served as the Yuva Morcha chief for two consecutive terms and then made his debut in the polls by contesting the 2019 Chhindwara Assembly by-election.

The BJP has launched an aspirational “Mission-29” and is working at all costs to win all the Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh. This time, the BJP hopes that through Bunty Sahu, they will be able to demolish Congress”s last fortress in the state.
