5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Prithviraj’s Upcoming 'Vilayath Buddha'

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming Malayalam action drama, Vilayath Buddha, has already created a storm with its recently released trailer, which has crossed over 3 million views in just six days.

While fans are eagerly awaiting the film’s release, here are five things you might not know about this highly anticipated project:

1. A Film With a Literary Legacy

Vilayath Buddha is based on the acclaimed novel by G. R. Indugopan. The story revolves around a prized sandalwood tree, known as the “Vilayath Buddha,” and the clash between a smuggler, Double Mohanan (Prithviraj), and his mentor, Bhaskaran Master (Shammi Thilakan). The adaptation promises to remain faithful to the novel while incorporating twists.

3. A Pan-Indian Ensemble Cast

Apart from Prithviraj and Shammi Thilakan, the film features Priyamvada Krishnan, Anu Mohan, Rajashree, and Tamil actors Teejay Arunasalam and Rajashree in pivotal roles. Arunasalam, who plays the antagonist Maari, even contributed to writing his Tamil dialogues, adding authenticity to his character.

4. Filmed in the Scenic Marayur

Principal photography was extensively conducted in Marayur, the region famed for its sandalwood forests. The lush landscapes and rural settings enhance the visual storytelling, making the conflict over the “Vilayath Buddha” tree even more compelling.
