The jury selected 160 movies for the first round and an external jury picked at least 50 films from the list.

The 54th Kerala State Film Awards was announced headed by veteran filmmaker Sudhir Mishra along with other dignitaries honouring the talents of the Malayalam film Industry. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who stole both the box office and critical response earlier with his magnificent performance in Blessy’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), has been selected as the Best Actor (male) in the 54th Kerala State Film Awards. Actresses Urvashi and Beena R Chandran bagged the Best Actress award for their glorious performances in Ullozhuku and Thadavu, respectively.
