"A Cupid In An Evil Shade": What is Ashwath Marimuthu's STR51 All About? (Image-X/SilambarasanTR_)
Known for his innovative storytelling and execution of his idea, director Ashwath Marimuthu made heads turn with his fantasy romantic film Oh My Kadavule. He is now gearing up with comedy-drama, Dragon.
The director also announced his yet-to-be-titled film with STR. Here are some exclusive updates about STR’s God Of Love, which will entertain his core fans next year.
Firstly, the director clarified that God of Love is not the title of the film but the character, which Simbu is set to play. He also compared the character to Cupid or Manmadhan (the Tamil literal name of cupid).

Marimuthu also offered a description about Simbu’s character, which promises to satisfy his hardcore fans. Unlike the usual narratives around the concept of Cupid, the director has sketched the character in an evil shade—a Cupid in a darker shade of characteristics.
Marimuthu also highlighted the hints offered in the first-look poster of the film. The poster features the actor with an evil smile and a raised eyebrow. About the character, the director said that it will be a cupid with its own flaws and a shade of evil.
He also unveiled certain details of the film, which is to be interpreted from the first-look poster. Explaining the same, Marimuthu also added that the ring, portrayed in the poster, is an element of the fantasy film, which drives the audience to its deeper layers.

Resonating the concept, the caption of the poster read, “God does not come to earth because he is afraid of love…What if he comes to earth?”
Moreover, the film also promises to bring back the vintage STR on screen along with his menacing performances. Speaking on STR’s performance, Marimuthu added that the actor was powerful to look at on screen and that he was excited to work with him.
Produced by the renowned AGS Entertainment, the film marks Marimuthu’s fourth film.
