'STR 49' First Look: Actor Simbu Announces His Next With Director Ram Kumar (Image-X/SilambarasanTR_)
The buzz over actor Simbu’s 49th film is making rounds on social media. And the major update on the Thug Life actor’s upcoming film was unveiled by director Ram Kumar on the occasion of the actor’s birthday today.
STR, who is one of the sensational stars of the Tamil film industry, is known for his recent releases such as Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and Pathu Thala. Since 2023, the fans of the actor have been waiting for updates on his next venture, STR 49.
As the actor is celebrating his 41st birthday today, the official announcement and the first look of STR 49 were made by the Parking fame director Ram Kumar. This directorial of Ram Kumar will be produced by the Don Pictures.

In this film, the Thug Life actor will be portraying the role of an engineering student. The actor was seen holding a knife hidden inside a book. Adding a description about the character, the poster reads, “The Most WANTED Student.”

Previously, STR 49 was announced to be directed by the Oh My Kadavule director Ashwath Marimuthu and was set to be produced by AGS Entertainments. However, no updates were announced by the makers since October 2024.
STR will be next seen in Thug Life, which is directed by Mani Ratnam. Headlined by Kamal Haasan, the star cast includes Trisha Krishnan, Nassar, Abirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ali Fazal, and Gautham Karthik. Reportedly, the actor will be playing Kamal Haasan’s son in the Mani Ratnam directorial.
