All We Imagine As Light Is Gleaming Bright For Its Alluring Portrayal

All We Imagine As Light is glowing bright as it baths in the glory of being recognised at one of the most prestigious international film festival, Cannes. All the stars in the film, including Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon are at the height of ecstasy. Payal Kapadia”s film has already received positives revies from critics for its “dream like” potrayal of modern Mumbai. When premiered in main competition section at the Cannes, All We Imagine As Light received an eight-minute-long standing ovation.

The film starts with street scenes of the contemporary Mumbai. It does not show the rich, and elite Mumbai created just for the Bollywood glamours and business tycoons, but with street visuals and voices of the immigrants of Mumbai, who constitute the city”s heartbeat. Payal Kapadia displays a deep human study of the struggles of the workers in a city that is known for its glitzy sleeplessness. The film shows that Mumbai drowns people in the illusion of the millions of dreams that it thrives on.

The film tells the story of four individual, three from Kerala, and one from Maharashtra”s village by sea. It portrays the story of the people who struggles to keep up with the frustrations, desires and dreams in a chaotic and tough environment that most often demands more that what is bestowed.

Speaking about the film, Kapadia said it is all about how we make friendships when we move to a city that is not our own and how such friendship become like a family. While talking to luxboxfilms about the stunning cast she had for her film, the director said “they were just fabulous”, and she it was a privilege for to work with people who are committed to to their craft. The filmmaker said that even though the story is based in India, the feeling in it are more universal.

All We Imagine As Light is the first Indian film in 30 years to play in Cannes” main competition section. Though Indian films have done marvelous presence at the world film circuit, the possibility of winning a Palm d”Or or one of the main Cannes award has been eluded for long. This year, its different for the country m which is one of the biggest film producing country in the world, all thanks to Kapadia and her exceptional talent in filmmaking.
