The Pongal special entertainer of actor Arun Vijay is all set to delight movie buffs today. Yes, the action drama Vanangaan, directed by Bala, a filmmaker known for his raw and realistic way of storytelling, is here to light up the festive season.
The directorial ventures of actor Bala always set themselves apart from the usual films of Kollywood. Bala, who is known for portraying a realistic, dark, and disturbing depiction of the working class on a celluloid screen, is now presenting an action drama from a different perspective.

Vanangaan, initially written for actor Suriya and Kriti Shetty, was revived with actor Arun Vijay and Roshini Prakash on board.
The action drama by the Naan Kadavul director features Arun Vijay in an intense avatar. So, what is this pongal treat by the duo all about? The film centres on a hearing- and speech-impaired man who decides to take the law into his hands after witnessing a heinous crime.
The narrative delves into his backstory and tries to lay bare the incidents that compel him to become a vigilante. Going by what Bala did in films such as Sethu and Naachiyaar, one can expect it to feature intense action scenes and dark twists. There may also be a liberal dose of strong language.

Notably, the film also holds a stellar cast with notable directors of Tamil cinema in it. The cast also includes director Samuthirakani, director Mysskin, director Brinda Sarathy, and others in notable roles.
While the acclaimed composer GV Prakash composed the music, the cinematography was handled by RB Gurudev. The film was produced by the director Bala himself under B Studios and Suresh Kamatchi.
